First time in a while

Man, this is the first poker related post in a long time. I played a little on FT tonight. I had not been playing much NLHE lately. Been doing mostly mixed games. So, I decided to play some NLHE tonight. I did OK. Played the low limits. I busted out 11th in a 90 man S & G. It was a tough hand.

I was in the SB with AcQc. I was against one player from the cut off. I just barely had him covered. Flop was nice:

Ad 10c 6c

I was ready to take out the cut off. I raised, hoping for a RR and got it. I pushed and he insta-called. Once he insta-called I knew I would need a club or a Q. I was right. He had AK. I missed and was left with barely enough to cover the ante. Doubled up a couple times...but the end was near.

Played a 9 man S & G as well. Got down to heads up with the chip lead (10,000 to 3,000). The guy raised from the button and I re-raised with KQ. He pushed over the top of me. I called and he showed K3. Ship it...right? Well except that the flop was K 3 4. Turn 3. I was drawing dead.

So now it's 6K vs my 7K. Same thing happened later too. Got him to put his money in with A4 Vs my A10. Yea...he caught a 4. Oh well. I ended up going out second. I was getting frustrated and push with a Kh8h. You know what sucked...he called with KQ. The only thing is...his KQ held up.

Well, it was nice to play some NLHE. It had been a while. I am still looking forward to the next mixed game night though.

People are really that dumb?

Are smokers really that dumb? Sorry to offend any of you who smoke. I personally don’t get it…smoking just seems really senseless. Any way- on to my real reason for posting this:

So Jenny and I were walking out of the mall with all the little ones in tow (after picture taking with Santa). As we walk out I look over and there are 3 people standing a few feet outside the door smoking. No big deal right. They can’t smoke inside…so they just step outside to suck all the yummy carcinogens into their bodies. Yea, that’s what I was thinking until I saw it- Two guys with a freshly lit cigarette…and a girl lighting up with one hand- her other hand was busy…holding her baby on her hip.

Man I wanted to walk over there and kick them all square in the teeth, especially the mom. In my opinion, you have to be a moron to want to smoke, BUT to smoke while holding your 10 month old baby…in a group of other people who are smoking…you are a freakin waste of space. Why not just go ahead and light one up for the little tot? You might as well you ignorant, mouth-breathing retard!

Free Rolls

I know...it's a freeroll. But 1st place is a seat to the 09' Main event (not a satalite to a satalite...a real seat).

This guy was playing really crazy. I had him dead to 3 outs.

He just rivered one of them. After the hand I told him he played bad and would end up giving them back. He did:

Heads up in 2 hands

It was a 6 man table. I think the deck just slapped me in the face:

Hand one:http://www.pokerhand.org/?2857710

Hand two: http://www.pokerhand.org/?2857711

I was heads up with a HUGE chip lead in 2 hands, and the funny thing was- my 3rd hand was JdJh- the other guy folded his small blind to me. I got no action on that one.

Omaha O8...

So before I get going I have to say- I must be the worst blogger in history. My intent is to blog once a week or maybe more, but for the last 4 or 5 months it has been about once a month, if I'm lucky.

Anyway, I played in an Omaha O8 tourney at Big Geoff's last week. It went pretty well. I will say at the beginning I was coming into pots with hands I had no business playing. I think it was just because I was excited to play something other than hold 'em. It hit me in about level 2 or 3 that I needed to be a little more strict on my starting hands. As soon as I started tightening up the reigns I started doing much better.

The tourney had 14 players (a decent turn out for O8). It didn't take too long to get to the final 8, then all of a sudden I found myself at in the last 5, 4, and then 3. When we got down to three handed I had a couple key hands. The first one was not all that great for me. The short stack was in the BB (with maybe about 5 BB's left). I picked up A 3 10 10 (double suited). I raised with the intent just taking blinds, but I had decided if the BB wanted to play it out all the way...I was game. Sure enough he wanted to get some chips in as well. Turns out he had Q Q and something like a 5 7 (no suits). The flop wasn't too bad: 2 6 9. I was drawing to the nut low, and could still hit an ace to win the high. Well, I just bricked out instead. The turn was a J and the river was another 6.

The other hand of note was a good one for me. It was 3 handed...with all three players in. I picked up A 3 4 5 (with one suit). I managed to scoop the whole thing. I nailed the nut low, and paired my ace which miraculously enough held for the high.

A few hands later Shaunbusted went out, and I found myself heads up with a pretty good chip lead. I had about 165,000 to my opponent's 115,000. We were at the 4,000/8,000 level, and decided to chop it up with me taking a larger piece for my chip lead. It was a pretty good night.

I will say real quick I played some NLHE cash the other night...MAN...I need to get better at cash games. I was up for a while, but ended up cashing out slightly down. Oh well, I guess that will be my new focus. We will see how it goes.
